NAAAHR’s Mission

The National Association of African Americans in Human Resources-Baltimore Chapter is a non-profit organization (501c3) whose goal is to bring together Human Resources practitioners to share information, resources, and opportunities on both a professional and personal level. More specifically, the NAAAHR – Greater Baltimore Chapter encourages members to participate in programs designed for their professional growth and development. Participation in these programs strengthen every member’s networking skills and expand each member’s base of professional and personal contacts.

By contributing to the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan community through service projects, NAAAHR – Greater Baltimore Chapter programs, and promoting the expertise and accomplishments of Minority HR practitioners, the NAAAHR – Greater Baltimore Chapter helps move our business community forward.

A Bold Vision for the Future

The Greater Baltimore Chapter of the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources (NAAAHR – Greater Baltimore Chapter), wants to build coalitions, create alliances and enhance our efforts by drawing on the talents, knowledge, connections, experience and other resources of the Minority HR community. When we create synergy among minority HR professionals who represent influential organizations and businesses in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area, we can improve the caliber of our workforce. We will help one another grow and develop as professionals. Most importantly, we will be a catalyst for change, as our entire nation seeks to improve diversity in our workforce, by reaching out to the minority community.

A Proud History

The first chapter was founded under the name Black Human Resources Network (BHRN) in 1988, by a small group of Human Resources professionals concerned with improving the professional development of African American HR professionals in the Washington, D.C. area. Since 1988, interest has grown and other chapters have formed in areas such as New York, NY., Philadelphia, PA., and Cleveland, OH.

In 1993, the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan BHRN joined the BHRN’s impressive list of chapters. In 1999, the name was changed from Black Human Resources Network to Minority Human Resources Association.
